Florida Senate Committee on Health Policy Analysis Of Florida Telemedicine Act, SBP 7028

The Florida Telemedicine Act (SPB 7028) includes provisions to create licensure and registration requirements; provides for health insurer and health plan reimbursement requirements for telemedicine; and provides requirements for reimbursement of telemedicine services under the Medicaid program. The legislation defines “telemedicine providers” as physicians only; non-physician health care professionals currently able to deliver telemedicine services in Florida would no longer be able to do so. Out-of-state physicians meeting specific requirements would be permitted to provide telemedicine services to a Florida resident without first obtaining a Florida license.
