New York State Psychiatric Association, et al., v. UnitedHealth Group, et al.

March 14, 2013
On March 11, 2013, the New York State Psychiatric Association filed a lawsuit against UnitedHealth Group alleging violation of state and federal mental health parity laws. The Association lawsuit was filed in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York, on behalf of its members and their patients. The plantiffs seek class action status for the lawsuit. The plaintiffs allege that the health plan employed concurrent treatment reviews to prospectively limit and deny benefits.
