The March 2013 Medicare Payment Advisory Commission (MedPAC) report includes statistics about hospice utilization and costs in 2011. That year, more than 1.2 million Medicare beneficiaries received hospice services from over 3,500 provider organizations. Expenditures totaled $13.8 billion.
