Oklahoma’s Medicaid program owes $6.2 million to the federal Medicaid program for inpatient psychiatric hospital services provided by a state-owned youth addiction treatment facility that had the wrong type of accreditation for Medicaid participation between 2006 and 2010. The services were provided by Children’s Recovery Center of Oklahoma (CRCO); the facility participates in Medicaid, but not the Medicare program. The facility had been accredited by the Joint Commission under the Commission’s Comprehensive Accreditation Manual for Behavioral Health Care standards.
