Supplemental Report In The Matter Of United States of America v. The State of Georgia March 17, 2015

This report was issued March 17, 2015 by the Independent Reviewer  monitoring a 2010 settlement agreement between the Georgia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities (DBHDD) and the United States Department of Justice (DOJ). The agreement called for the state to improve community capacity in terms of housing, supportive services, and crisis services for individuals with intellectual/ developmental disabilities (IDD) to prevent admission to the state psychiatric hospitals. The state agreed to move about 750 state hospital residents with  IDD to community placements.  The agreement also called for the state to create new community capacity to reduce the risk . . .
