Settlement In Coppinger v. South Carolina

On March 23, 2022, the Charleston Division of the South Carolina U.S. Districe Court published this settlement in the case of Coppinger v. South Carolina. The settlement requires South Carolina Department of Social Services (SC DSS) to update its policies and train its staff, strengthen its practices and incentives for identifying stable placement options, and prioritize the placement of children with family members. SC DSS will also disburse flexible funds to re-license or engage foster families in the most-affected counties . . .
