March 2008 This review of the Michigan Department of Human Services found that in 2005-2006, assistance payment caseworks mistakenly approved benefits in 7.5% of cases. Additionally, workers were found to spend approximately one third of their time entering data and preparing applications for the initial benefit eligibility determination and subsequent reapplications.
