Belton V. Georgia Decision

In a recent ruling, U.S. District Judge Richard Story said Georgia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities (DBHDD) has failed to provide appropriate group home care to individuals who are deaf and developmentally disabled. The ruling also says the state does not have enough mental health care practitioners who are proficient in American Sign Language. This lack of capacity and services has been characterized as discriminatory.
