Data Spotlight: Half of Women on Probation or Parole Experience Mental Illness

Researchers with Center for Behavioral Health Statistics and Quality in the federal Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration reviewed data from the 2008 through 2010 National Surveys on Drug Use and Health. The researchers analyzed the prevalence data among women on probation or parole in terms of whether they experienced any mental illness and then whether they experienced serious mental illness.
