Housing an Aging Population–Are We Prepared?

The report, by Center for Housing Policy, found that between 2010 and 2050, the number of adults in the United States over the age of 65 will double. With the over 65 population growing demand for affordable housing and community-based long-term care services will also increase. Currently, housing costs consume half the household income in 25% of households over age 85; about 20% of households between the ages of 65 and 74, and 17% of households under age 65.
