MedPAC Medicare Accountable Care Organization Update

This April 4, 2013, presentation to the Medicare Payment Advisory Commission (MedPAC),discussed the Medicare Accountable Care Organization demonstrations, and differences between the two tyes of ACO risk structures. The 32 Pioneer ACOs serve 860,000 beneficiaries. The MSSP has three ACO cohorts, the 27 selected in April 2012 serve 370,000 beneficiaries; the 87 selected in July 2012 serve 1.3 million beneficiaries; and the 106 selected in January 2013 serve 1.6 million beneficiaries.
