October 31, 2008 The future uses of telepsychiatry were proposed during a presentation given by psychiatrist Don Fowls, M.D., chief development officer of FasPsych LLC. He said that telepsychiatry is expected to expand because the technology hardware costs are coming down, and the Internet is more and more available; and in addition, psychiatrists are in short supply. He proposed that telepsychiatry could be used to improve care coordination for individuals with co-morbid mental health and medical issues, bring timely care to workplaces, and could help emergency departments provide timely psychiatric crisis care . . .
