January 2008 In March 2008, Getting Out and Staying Out (GOSO), a New York-based prisoner reentry training program started actively promoting replication of its career planning program, which has helped young men incarcerated at Riker's Island transition to the community with only a 10% recidivism rate over three years. In addition to educational encouragement, counseling, and vocational training, the GOSO participants receive job coaching and training from business executives on how people get hired and promoted in a variety of industries. The GOSO program focuses on career planning, not just job training and placement into entry-level positions . . .
