Arizona Senate Bill 1353 requires private health insurers to reimburse for health care services for certain conditions provided through telemedicine, only in rural areas, if the service would be covered were it provided through an in-person consultation. The law only allows reimbursement when telemedicine is used for the following health care services: trauma, burns, cardiology, infectious diseases, mental health disorders, neurological diseases including strokes, and dermatology. Telemedicine is defined as the use of interactive audio, video, or other electronic media for the purpose of diagnosis, consultation, or treatment.
