Mr. Cohen spoke about what the Center for Consumer Information and Insurance Oversight has done to prepare for launching the Health Insurance Marketplaces authorized by the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act of 2010 (PPACA). He summarized the PPACA provisions already implemented, and the status of those that go into effect as of 2014. Part of his statements addressed how consumers will shop for health insurance through the marketplaces.
