The report was released April 23, 2015, by the federal Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA). The researchers analyzed combined data from the 2008 through 2012 National Survey on Drug Use and Health (NSDUH). The survey questions ask respondents about their employment status as well as about their use of alcohol and illegal drugs during the past 30 days and the past year.
