The researchers analyzed data from the National Vital Statistics System, Mortality to present an overview of suicide mortality in the United States from 1999 through 2014. They compared suicide rates for females and males across age groups, and by method of death, stratified as firearms, poisoning, suffocation, or other means. Over the 15 year period, the age-adjusted suicide rate in the United States increased by 24%, from 10.5 deaths per 100,000 population in 1999 to 13.0 deaths per 100,000 in 2014 . . .
