Second Chance Act of 2007
April 9, 2008 The law amends the Omnibus Crime Control and Safe Streets Act of 1986 to reauthorize, rewrite, and expand provisions for adult and juvenile offender states and local reentry demonstration projects to provide expanded services to offenders and their families for reentry. It also authorizes funding of $165 million per year for efforts to reduce recidivism and improve rehabilitation programs within the corrections system.
