Georgia House Bill 429, An Act To Provide For Insurance Coverage Of Autism Disorders

On July 1, 2015, the Georgia Office of the Insurance Commissioner began implementing a new autism insurance mandate that requires commercial health plans to cover the costs of diagnosis and treatment of autism spectrum disorders (ASD) for covered dependents up to age six. Applied behavioral analysis (ABA) is covered for all children eligible for ASD treatment, but coverage may be limited to $30,000 a year. Employer-sponsored commercial health plans must provide coverage for autism spectrum disorders for plans issued or renewed starting on or after July 1, 2015 . . .
