Florida Senate Bill 168: Mental Health, The ‘Tristin Murphy Act’ 

The legislation was signed on June 25, 2025. It creates new diversion pathways for people with mental illnesses when diversion is a feasible alternative to incarceration. It allows counties and municipalities to establish misdemeanor mental health diversion programs and pretrial felony diversion programs.  It also expands the Criminal Justice, Mental Health, and Substance Abuse Reinvestment Grant Program to include a new focus on veteran treatment court programs and emergency responder training . . .
