In an ongoing study on the Medicare hospice benefit, the Office of Inspector General released a memorandum report describing the use of hospice general inpatient care (GIP) in 2011. The report was issued on May 3, 2013 by Stuart Wright, the deputy inspector general for evaluation and inspections, providing the results of an investigation after concerns from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services over the possible misuse of GIP.
