CMS Proposed Rule On Quality Reporting Requirements For Inpatient Psychiatric Facilities
May 10, 2013
Medicare recently proposed new quality reporting requirements for IPFs that add alcohol use screening, post-discharge alcohol and drug use assessment, and follow-up after hospitalization for mental illness. These proposed measures are in addition to existing measures on use of physical restraints, use of seclusion, polypharmacy, and creation and transmission of post-discharge care plans. Failure to submit the quality data affects reimbursement rates in later years.
