Georgia Senate Bill 39 to Establish Mental Health Division in State Court System

May 11, 2011  Georgia Senate Bill 39, establishes a mental health court division in the Georgia court system. It allows courts to refer cases in which a defendant with mental illness, developmental disability, or co-occurring mental illness and substance abuse disorder to the mental court division.  The bill was signed into law on May 4, 2011.
