Mental Health: Better Documentation Needed to Oversee Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration Grantees
In this report released on May 12, 2015, the Government Accountability Office (GAO) reviewed grant management by the federal Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) Center for Mental Health Services (CMHS). For this report, the GAO was asked to provide information on CMHS's oversight of its formula and discretionary mental health grant programs. CMHS is one of SAMHSA’s four centers; it leads federal efforts to promote prevention and treatment of mental illness.
