New Jersey Comptroller Audit Report – Burlington, Camden, and Passaic County Boards of Social Services – Controls Over the Administration of the General Assistance Program

On May 14, 2015, the New Jersey Office of the State Comptroller (OSC) announced that a three-county audit of the counties’ General Assistance programs found that of the cases reviewed, the counties failed to refer more than half of participants to mandatory work programs. Additionally, the counties had failed to ensure eligibility for nearly a quarter of participants. The OSC audited documentation of the Work First General Assistance programs run by Burlington, Camden, and Passaic counties for December 2012 and June 2013 . . .
