Data Brief 97. Diagnostic History and Treatment of School-aged Children with Autism Spectrum Disorder and Special Health Care Needs

The National Center for Health Statistics has released a data brief on the diagnostic history and treatment of children with autism spectrum disorder or other special health needs. The data brief showed that more than half of children with special health care needs and autism are diagnosed after age five. The data brief included information on medications used and health care services provided for children to meet their developmental needs.
