The ruling was issued on May 25, 2018. The court ruled that the Illinois Department of Corrections (IDOC) has not complied with a 2016 settlement agreement to improve mental health treatment for prisoners diagnosed with mental illness. The judge ordered IDOC to provide mental health treatment to inmates on “crisis watch” and in segregation, and to provide medication management, mental health evaluations and necessary mental health staff throughout the system.
