U.S. DOJ v. Jonas ACLU Amicus Brief
In May 2019, the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) filed an amicus brief in response to the case, U.S. DOJ v. Jonas concerning the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) requesting consumer electronic health data from a software vendor in 2019 to aid investigations against physicians who allegedly inappropriately prescribed controlled substances. According to the amicus brief, the DEA believes that because it is a federal agency it should be able to request individual PDMP records with an administrative subpoena instead of a warrant . . .
