Medicare Description of Antipsychotic Medication Quality Measures on Nursing Home Compare
May 31, 2012
The federal Centers for Medicare and Medicaid described two new measures related to use of antipsychotic medications that were added to the Medicare Nursing Home Compare web site in July 2012. The measures are an incidence measure that assesses the percentage of short-stay residents given an antipsychotic after admission to the nursing home, and a prevalence measure that assesses the percentage of long-stay residents that are receiving an antipsychotic medication. This document describes how both measures are calculated for Nursing Home Compare.
