In June 2013, the Social Security Administration (SSA) released its annual statistical update (SSA Publication No. 13-11976) for the Supplemental Security Income (SSI) program. SSI is a cash assistance program that provides monthly benefits to low-income aged, blind, or disabled persons in the 50 states, the District of Columbia, and the Northern Mariana Islands.
