The 2022 Annual Report Of The Boards Of Trustees Of The Federal Medicare Hospital Insurance & Federal Supplementary Medical Insurance Trust Funds

The report was released on June 2, 2022. The annual report presents the financial solvency of the two trust funds that support Medicare Parts A, B, and D. The Hospital Insurance trust fund (HI) pays for services covered under Medicare Part A: inpatient hospital services, hospice care, and skilled nursing facility and home health services following hospital stays. The Supplementary Medical Insurance trust fund (SMI) covers outpatient services under Medicare Part B and pharmacy costs under Medicare Part D.
