Maryland Health Services Cost Review Commission Hospital Rate Update Factor Recommendation For FY2014

On June 5, 2013, the Maryland Health Services Cost Review Commission (HSCRC) voted to allow a 1.65% increase to the rates acute care hospitals can charge in fiscal year 2014. The increase goes into effect on July 1, 2013, and will be effective through December 31, 2013. This document discusses the HSCRC's concerns about hospital rates. The State of Maryland has a Medicare waiver that allows the state to set hospital reimbursement rates for all payers, even Medicare.
