Community Behavioral Health Did Not Comply With Requirements When Denying Prior Authorization Requests

On June 8, 2026, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services' (HHS') Office of Inspector General (OIG) published a report which found that Community Behavioral Health (CBH) did not comply with requirements when denying prior authorization requests. OIG made five recommendations for CBH to improve how it communicates service denials, and made one recommendation for Pennsylvania to improve its denial notice templates.
