Developmental Disabilities Reform Act of 2009
June 15, 2009 The District of Columbia is moving forward with its Developmental Disabilities Reform Act of 2009 (DDRA) that will revise how the city serves people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). The process started in 2007; the Act was introduced October 30, 2009. As introduced, the DDRA proposes expanding the range of people eligible for IDD support services, ending commitment to institutions, and permits the establishment of a waiting list for community-based services.
