Colorado Behavioral Health Organizations Bend the Cost Curve While Increasing Access to Care for Medicaid Beneficiaries

June 15, 2011 The Colorado Behavioral Healthcare Council commissioned a report on Colorado's behavioral health organizations. The report found that in 2010, services provided through Colorado’s five contracted Medicaid behavioral health organizations (MBHOs) cost $227 million, six percent less than the projected $243.8 million it would have cost if the services had been provided at state’s Community Medicaid Provider rate.
