According to a recently released report from the federal Government Accountability Office (GAO), under the 2010 Patient and Affordable Care Act (PPACA) potentially 1.7 million children may be uninsured. In the report, GAO analyzed household composition, household income, federal poverty level (FPL), insuracnce status, access to affordable employer-sponsored insurance and citizenship, and catagroized children as eligible or ineligible for Medicaid, CHIP and the premium tax credit based on proposed and final 2014 PPACA rules.
