Office Of Head Start General Fact Sheet On The NPRM For Head Start Performance Standards
On June 19, 2015, the federal Office of Head Start (OHS) proposed that Head Start programs provide full-day preschool for a full school year, such that the minimum number of daily program hours will increase from 3.5 to 6 hours, and the number of program days will increase from 128 days per year to 180 days. The shift to full day programs is part of an overall update to Head Start program standards, which have not been updated since 1998.
