Georgia Office Of The Insurance Commissioner Bulletin To All Insurers Writing Comprehensive Major Medical Insurance Regarding The New Autism Coverage Requirement
On July 1, 2015, the Georgia Office of the Insurance Commissioner began implementing a new autism insurance mandate that requires commercial health plans to cover the costs of diagnosis and treatment of autism spectrum disorders (ASD) for covered dependents up to age six. Applied behavioral analysis (ABA) is covered for all children eligible for ASD treatment, but coverage may be limited to $30,000 a year.
