Multiple Response System and System of Care: Two Policy Reforms Designed to Improve the Child Welfare System
June 20, 2009 The amount of child maltreatment increases each year. This article, by Nicole Lawrence, MPPA, and Elizabeth Snyder, Ph.D., uses North Carolina as the model state because of the various systems it uses to reduce and prevent child maltreatment. The article also offers recommendations and resources policymakers find useful to have the same outcome.The article analyzes data taken from the Center for Children and Family Policy and found that the implementation of the programs from North Carolina had the most positive outcomes for children, families, and communities to follow.
