June 2, 2008 On June 2, 2008, the Georgia Mental Health Service Delivery Commission released its initial findings and recommendations to strengthen community-based services and improve treatment and care in state hospitals. Key recommendations include creation of a behavioral health collaborative to develop a behavioral health strategic plan and standardizing medication access and case management functions. The Commission also recommended legislative and regulatory changes to enable probation changes, amend housing restrictions for felons and sex offenders, amend licensing statutes so that felons can receive licenses for professions, amend the civil commitment statute to permit outpatient services.
