June 26, 2009 In the spring of 2009, the federal Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) conducted a review of Alaska's home and community-based services and personal care services waivers. CMS said the Alaska State Medicaid Agency has not provided CMS sufficient assurance that necessary administration and operation safeguards were currently in place and/or being followed to ensure participants' safety.
