Fast Facts: Reproductive Health Outcomes Among Youth Who Ever Lived in Foster Care
July 1, 2009 The National Campaign to Prevent Teen and Unplanned Pregnancy released the data from the National Longitudinal Study of Adolescent Health to focus on the reproductive health outcomes of youth who had been in foster care as of July 2009. The data indicate that girls in foster care have a higher risk of early pregnancy in general, and that many teens in foster care become parents while still in the foster care system or shortly after transitioning out of the system.
