On June 26, 2014, the federal Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) released a proposed rule with provisions for the upcoming 2015 Health Insurance Marketplace open enrollment period, allowing Qualified Health Plans (QHPs) to auto-enroll existing members who wish to stay with the same plan. The new policy aligns the Marketplace policies with existing insurance market practices; the goal is to streamline the enrollment process for consumers wishing to remain in their current plan.
