New York City Public School Indicators: Demographics, Resources, and Outcomes 2014

In this report released on July 1, 2014, the New York City Independent Budget Office released statistics about the New York City Department of Education (D.O.E.). A section of the report focused on students with special needs. During the 2012-2013 school year, there were 183,850 special education students, constituting 18.1%  of the total student population in D.O.E. public schools.
