Highlights of the 2010 Drug Abuse Warning Network (DAWN) Findings on Drug-Related Emergency Department Visits

A report by the Center for Health Statistics showed that in 2010, there were 4.9 million drug-related emergen cy department visits. The report also showed that emergency department visits involving misuse or abuse of pharmaceuticals increased 115 percent between 2004 and 2010. The report included charts on misused and abused drugs most commonly involved in emergency department visits and a chart on drug-related emergency department visits broken down by type of visit.
