The Patient-Centered Medical Home Closing the Quality Gap: Revisiting the State of the Science
A review of 27 studies about the patient-centered medical home (PCMH) model found that the organizations implementing the model used a range of financing strategies; no single dominant strategy emerged. Of the 27 studies, 11 reported information about the financial models used; the funding methods included receipt of external study funding, capitation payments, salaried professionals, or a hybrid approach. The researchers were updating an earlier report about PCMHs. In this update, the review focused on completed and ongoing efforts to evaluate the comprehensive PCMH model, summarize current evidence for this model, and identify gaps in the evidence.
