Michigan House Bill 5408(HB 54081) has been signed which will expand telehealth services to private insurers. HB 5408 requires that expense-incurred hospitals, medical or surgical groups, individual policy or certificate issued, delivered or renewed in Michigan, and a health maintenance organization group or individual contracts, as well as group or nongroup health care corporations, cannot not require face-to-face meetings between patients and health care professional. The new policy will apply to any certificates issued or renewed on or after January 1, 2013.
