Oregon House Bill 2345: Relating to Impaired Health Professionals

July 14, 2002 The provisions of the bill abolish all existing board-operated programs for licensed professionals, such as dentists, licensed social workers, nurses, pharmacists and physicians who are impaired as a result of substance use or mental health disorders. Health licensing boards currently operating such programs will cease independent programs as of July 1, 2010. After that date, the Oregon Department of Human Services will oversee a consolidated substance abuse and mental health monitoring program for health professionals in the state.
