Final Rule: TRICARE Certified Mental Health Counselor

In this final rule released, July 18, 2014, TRICARE specified certification criteria for independently practicing TRICARE Certified Mental Health Counselors (TCMHC), a new type of mental health provider. TCMHCs must have a master’s degree from a mental health counseling program accredited by the Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Education Programs (CACREP) and must pass the National Clinical Mental Health Counseling Examination (NCMHCE) by January 1, 2017 . . .
