On July 15, 2011, the U.S. Attorney’s Office sued Carespring Health Care Management alleging that it provided poor quality of care that contributed to the deaths of five residents at its Villaspring nursing facility in Kentucky. This is the first suit filed in Kentucky in which the government alleges that a nursing home defrauded Medicare and Medicaid by submitting bills for reimbursement for providing systemically poor resident care.
